UM RTC Logger Shield
Overview
The UM RTC Logger Shield is an accessory designed for TinyPICO, TinyS2, TinyS3, TinyC6, and ProS3 microcontroller boards. It combines real-time clock functionality with SD card storage and connectivity options, making it ideal for data logging applications requiring accurate timestamping.

Key Features
The shield includes:
- RV-3028-C7 RTC: Ultra low power, super accurate RTC that communicates via I2C
- Micro SD Card slot for data logging
- Two STEMMA/QT connectors offering flexible I/O configuration (dual I2C channels or I2C plus UART)
- JST PH connector for battery attachment
- Programmable button connected to RTC's EVI pin for programmable wakeup and event triggering
- RTC interrupt capability connected to an RTCIO pin, enabling deep sleep wake functionality
- Configurable clock output via solder jumper on the back of the board
Technical Specifications
The shield provides:
- Primary I2C on standard board pins
- Secondary I2C on alternative pins
- Removable interrupt connection (via trace cut on the back)
- Optional clock output bridging via solder jumper
Development Resources
An Arduino IDE example project demonstrates hourly logging of data with wake from deep sleep using the RTC and microSD card integration. The example is available on GitHub.
A 3D STEP model is available on GitHub for integration planning.
