UM Analog Audio Shield

Overview​

The UM Analog Audio Shield is an audio enhancement module designed for TinyPICO, TinyS2, TinyS3, TinyC6, and ProS3 microcontroller boards from Unexpected Maker.

Key Features​

The shield offers several audio capabilities:

  • 1.5 W mono amplifier (can be disabled to conserve power)
  • Magnetic buzzer for alert sounds
  • Trimmer potentiometer for gain adjustment
  • Selectable output via switch to toggle between onboard buzzer and external speakers connected through provided header

DAC Compatibility​

The implementation varies by platform:

  • TinyPICO & TinyS2: Audio input connects to one of two built-in DACs (Digital to Analog Converters)
  • TinyS3 & TinyC6: No onboard DAC available, but PWM-based sound generation remains possible
