What Firmware Is on My Board When I Receive It?

Unexpected Maker boards ship with either MicroPython or CircuitPython on them.

ESP32-S2 & ESP32-S3

All Unexpected Maker ESP32-S2 and ESP32-S3 boards ship with CircuitPython pre-installed, including UF2 firmware. We try to always ship with the latest released version of CircuitPython, but sometimes earlier versions may be present.

You can update by downloading the latest CircuitPython from circuitpython.org.

ESP32

ESP32 boards ship with MicroPython installed. You can update by downloading the latest MicroPython from micropython.org, where installation instructions are also provided.
